Design Approach

One of Georgia’s “Seven Natural Wonders,” Radium Springs is the largest natural springs in the state. With a year-round temperature of 68 degrees, the sapphire-blue water emerges from a limestone aquifer adjacent to the Flint River, a few miles south of Albany, GA.

The spring and its associated creek form part of a spectacular 95-acre cypress swamp landscape, which includes habitat for the endangered striped bass, contemporary gardens, gazebo ruins, stone walls, promenade walkways, and balustrade railings—all part of the remnants of the Radium Springs Resort, developed in the 1900s as a place for recreation and entertainment. The site also contains evidence of American Indian use that is over 2000 years old.

Signature Design developed interpretive signs and a wayfinding system for the extensive network of themed gardens including the Casino Garden, Native Springs Garden, Backyard Garden, Shade Garden, Secret Garden, Bird Garden, and Butterfly Garden.
