Interpretation depicting women throughout time whose lives have effected change as social justice practitioners, activists, and scholars is designed to inspire the Social Justice Fellows Program students that live and work in Spelman Hall.

“A Choice to Change the World”

The mural is arranged in general chronological order from left to right, beginning with construction of Laura Spelman Hall in 1880 through to current times. The mural consists of three layers. The background depicts a timeline of uses and changes to Laura Spelman Hall. Next layer depicts changing campus life along with political and social justice national movements. The top layer is devoted to women social justice advocates. The women featured are Spelman College Alumnae and Presidents, Scholar Activists, American Advocates, and International Advocates.
