Design Approach
The Southern Education Foundation works to ensure equity and excellence in education for low-income students and students of color in the southern United States. When the foundation moved to a new office, it wanted to use interior design to visually represent its 150-year history as an inspiration to employees and visitors alike.
Working collaboratively with the project’s architect and interior designer, Signature Design used glass walls and windows to tell the Foundation’s story in a visually immersive way. Through the use of large-scale graphics, Signature Design layered photos of students past to present with quotes about the power of education by leaders such as Fredrick Douglas and Oprah Winfrey. The result is a functional, stunning space that reveals the Foundation’s important work encouraging literacy and access to public education for all children.
The Southern Education Foundation (SEF) project won a 2018 Community Design Award from the City of Atlanta.
