Design Approach

The Otis Redding Foundation reached out to Signature Design to create a memorial marker honoring singer-songwriter Otis Redding. The marker celebrates Redding's ties to his hometown of Gray, Georgia, and the music that made him a soul and R&B legend. 

The seven-foot tall, twelve-foot wide marker was designed to look like a record in an album sleeve and features images of Redding's life. An interactive feature allows people to hear a selection of Otis Redding’s hits. 

The marker has been incorporated into a larger downtown restoration project in Gray to help bolster heritage tourism and local pride. The town of Gray has grown to love the marker and has even begun to plan music festivals around it.
